RCB vs SRH: RCB defeats SRH by 67 runs

Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar’s century stand, followed by another strong finish from Dinesh Karthik, set up RCB’s massive win as Wanindu Hasaranga ran through Sunrisers with 5 for 18.

RCB vs SRH: The foundation for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 67-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium was laid by a 105-run second-wicket stand between Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar, as well as Wanindu Hasaranga’s five-for.

Despite losing Virat Kohli to the game’s opening ball, Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis bowled some wonderful shots to keep the scoreboard ticking.

In Umran Malik’s eighth over, the pair hit top gear, with the tearaway allowing three boundaries and a six. The couple took advantage of the extra speed and width available.

Umran, on the other hand, could have made the breakthrough had the midwicket fielder not fluffed a difficult chance, allowing Du Plessis to escape.

Karthik’s destructive batting

Following that, Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell launched a few shots at Bhuvneshwar Kumar. RCB was ready for the final push, as seen by Maxwell’s decision to stay deep in the crease and Tonk Bhuvneshwar’s slower approach towards the downtown areas.

Tyagi, on the other hand, managed to remove Maxwell just in time, slamming one too long-on.

With barely 10 balls left in the innings, RCB’s finisher Dinesh Karthik was given the opportunity to showcase his diverse skills.

Fazalhaq Farooqi, a seasoned cricketer, delivered with three sixes and a boundary off him. He smashed the penultimate ball of the innings for a boundary via the long-on region, Du Plessis hugged Karthik.

Hasaranga destructive bowling

Hasaranga took 5 for 18 from four overs to follow up a solid display by the batters. The wrist-spinner mixed up his major wicket-taking ball, the googly, with a flight to get through the opposition.

Aiden Markram’s consistency was rejected with a grin. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran, the SRH’s other backbone, was taken out by the googly.

Because he allowed some air in, Pooran could only spoon a catch to the fielder stationed at short third base this time.

When Hasaranga came on to bowl the 17th over, RCB was already in command, and the wrist-spinner teased the opposition with a double-wicket maiden. Harshal Patel then put an end to Bhuvneshwar’s life. Meanwhile, the googly destroyed the SRH’s other backbone.

Malik had put down a similar chance off Patidar, two balls after Tripathi had failed to hold on to a difficult chance at midwicket off du Plessis. The RCB second-wicket stand was worth 67 at the time; it would cost the Sunrisers 38 more, and du Plessis would go on to anchor the innings until the end.
